Profile: Adele Haze
Sentence: 25 years for Murder
Background: Born in Eastern Europe, Adele was educated in the UK, in a charity school for gifted children. After leaving school, she made a successful debut as a horror writer with a novel about the gruesome murder of a despotic Headmaster. After the discovery of a mutilated body of an MP, somebody noticed that his murderer had exactly repeated the crime described in Adele's book. When it transpired that the victim had been the Headmaster of Adele's school at the time when she was there, she was arrested. She has not entered a plea, and to this day refuses to answer any questions about the crime. In prison Adele tries to remain detached, and bury herself in her writing, but she proves unable to offer any resistance to the harsh regime. She finds comfort in her cellmate Niki Flynn, but any relief is temporary: not only does her relationship with Niki prove to have a dangerouns edge, but the guards see Adele as an easy victim for bullying.
